I've always been intrigued by platform beds. You know the kind— low to the ground, or even on the ground, and little foundation aside from, well, the platform (and no boxspring in sight). They usually make for a nice clean, minimalistic space and I certainly understand the allure of not having to shell out extra cash for a foundation when buying a new mattress. But I never quite understood sleeping so close to the floor and let's face it—the storage space under a traditional bed is precious real estate. So, I looked for a happy medium.
