- What I Love About My Small Home:
- When I first found this vintage courtyard apartment 15 years ago, I sat on the living room floor and felt the deep sense of settling. It’s a half a block from Lake Michigan and very elemental with the water sky, light and sand. Through the years I’ve accumulated and then let go of stuff so now I have what I love surrounding me. What has been most magical is that most everything in my apartment I’ve found in thrift stores, on the street or has been given to me…along with an occasional trip to take advantage of a sale. It seems that I’m always tweaking the arrangement of furniture and objects. I love my non-working fireplace, the clanking radiators and that intense chandelier in the dining room. I love creating dishes in my kitchen, doing qigong in the living room and having the space to center and relax. I love waking to the sun rising over the lake every morning, the afternoon sun in the living room and the setting sun in the dining room.
