A garden apartment is an apartment that's typically on the first floor that faces a shared garden area.
Garden apartments typically feature outdoor patios that overlook the shared area in an outdoor-style apartment complex that's one, two or three stories high.
Features found in garden apartments
True to its name, a garden apartment usually offers green spaces that give tenants the feel of being in nature or a garden, rather than overlooking a parking lot or main road.
While most garden apartment complexes offer basic amenities such as a swimming pool or a gym, more luxurious complexes might offer athletic facilities such as basketball or tennis courts, outdoor kitchens and grills or fire pits and gazebos for gatherings.
These apartment complexes usually have at least one or two bedrooms and bathrooms, but the units can sometimes be larger and offer more layout options. One downside to these units is that because they are often outdoor units, tenants may have to brave any bad weather when they walk from their cars to their homes.
Additionally, garden apartments typically only offer outdoor parking options, so tenants' vehicles will be exposed to the elements.
