Ronald McDonald House
The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas provides a temporary home for families of sick or injured children. It is located just a half a mile from the Children’s Medical Center and 1.5 miles from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. When it comes to a sick child, families shouldn’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from or where they are going to sleep. Get involved by volunteering your time working the front desk, working in the kitchen, or helping with family activities. Start your own fundraiser, donate household items, or attend one of their many events. RMH of Dallas makes it easy and exciting to volunteer for such a touching cause.
Promise House
Promise House helps youth in crisis move towards safety and success. With a variety of programs including emergency shelter, transitional living, teen parenting services, counseling, and street outreach, Promise House aims to eradicate youth homelessness in its community. Become a youth mentor, sponsor an activity for teens, sponsor a meal or get involved with other events. Signing up is incredibly easy and you’ll make a lasting impact on a teen in need. About half an hour outside of the city, you’ll find Operation Kindness —a place that cares for homeless cats and dogs. They follow a no-kill environment and work tirelessly to find a responsible home for each animal. They care for approximately 300 cats and dogs on a daily basis and have saved nearly 90,000 animals in the past 41 years. If you’re in the market for a new pet, you might want to consider adopting one of their adorable friends. But volunteering to walk dogs and helping to maintain their kennels and cat rooms is probably your next best bet!
