How to Get Rid of Wall Scuff Marks

Few things can ruin the look of your home like ugly wall scuff marks. These unsightly blemishes can make even the most pristine room look bad. But don’t get down about the scuffs on your paint. ForRent.com is here to show you how to remove scuff marks off walls. Here is a layout of what you will need:

First, try something simple.
-Dampen a cloth or sponge with water.
-Then wipe down the wall.

-If the marks are still there, it’s time to go further.
-Get an all-purpose cleaner and spray it onto the scuff.
-Then scrub it off with a cloth.

-No cleaner? No problem.
-Add some liquid dish detergent to some water.
-Dip a cloth or sponge in the water.
-Then scrub away.

-Don’t scrub too hard.
-You may accidentally remove the paint.

-Afterwards, allow the wall to dry.
-You should have clean walls in no time.

First, try the simple route. Some scuff marks can be erased with a sponge or washcloth. Simply dampen the cloth or sponge and wipe down the wall. This works best with scuff marks that were made more recently.

If that got rid of the marks, feel free to celebrate! Otherwise, it’s time to try something more extensive. Purchase an all-purpose cleaner to get the job done. Spray the cleaner onto the scuff, then scrub it off with a washcloth. If you don’t have a cleaner handy, you can add some drops of liquid dish detergent to some water. Dip a cloth or sponge in the water and scrub away. Be careful not to scrub too hard or you might accidentally remove the paint.

You can allow the wall to air-dry, or you can wipe it dry with a towel or new cloth. Now step back and admire your newly cleaned wall. You now know the best way to clean walls!

*We can’t promise you that the following techniques won’t get you in trouble with your property manager. Before you start any of these projects, make sure that you get written permission.
