As a designer my home never truly feels “finished”. I feel like I’m constantly moving things around, changing out pillows and accessories and re-evaluating my style. It has been nice though to feel like I’m finally finding my design footing in my home. Once I realized what I truly loved it was easier to start buying pieces that were really my style. I gravitate towards a white and neutral palette with lots of color. I’ve always loved the whites and blues used in beach houses as well as the relaxing and casual feel of a beach house. A lot of my art is landscapes of the beach to mimic that feel.

I wanted to make sure my house is comfortable for kids but doesn’t’ feel over-run by them. I have white chairs but they are covered in slipcovers so I never stress too much if they get dirty. The barstools are wipe-able but also have a fun pattern and color. My dining table is really easy to clean and my dining rug has enough colors in it to camouflage any ketchup or juice spill!

I definitely embrace the fact that there are kids in my house. My kids rooms and play room are whimsical, colorful and evoke play. Kid’s rooms are an excuse to go bold with art and color and unique decor items.

My home is small (a townhome) so I have to do the best I can with awkward window placements and layouts. My bedroom has a very unfortunate off centered window behind the bed. I hate it. But I do what I can. Because I have so many windows in the room I opted to save money on window treatments and do basic Ikea panels. I also moved my rod out on the right side to make the window appear centered behind the panels. The kids rooms are really small so I have limited furniture in each of them. In my daughters’ room I opted for a toddler bed instead of a twin.
